DRC President for 2007 is John Godden, John started rowing with the Curlew Rowing Cub on the River Thames in London, England in the 50's and rowed in the 60's with the University of Sheffield as a novice and junior rower.
He has been a recreation rower since the club was formed. John is now retired from the Ontario Government and looking forward to being able to spend more time rowing.
John has serve the DRC, in addition to being one of the founders, in the following capacities:

Rob Millikin, the DRC Past-President rowed competitively for Hamilton Leander in the early 1950's. Due to shift work he stopped rowing for a brief period of 35 years. In 1989, Scott Withers, John Godden, Michael Maher, and Rob founded the Durham Rowing club.

Crystal joined the DRC after attending the May Learn to Row in 2006 and became a recreational program member in June 2006. She became a member of the Board of Directors in the fall of 2006 and has assisted with the Learn to Row, Adaptive, and the Touring Programs as well as in the completion of a successful application to the Ontario Trillium Grant program for funding to support the DRC. Crystal is an Application Design Consultant with TELUS. |

The DRC Vice President for 2007, Jennifer Walker joined the DRC Learn To Row, and Recreational Programs in 1999.
Jen worked as a paramedic in Oshawa for 16 years until the birth of her twins in 2001. She has since been a stay at home mom to her 3 young children, and enjoys rowing for fun, fitness and a little peace and quiet time on the water.

The DRC Secretary for 2007 is Valerie (or Val) Skam, Val is a Caseworker for Social Services and has been rowing for about 10 years.
Val is a recreational rower, who has competed in numerous regattas at recreational and masters levels, even winning some!
Val has served the DRC and rowing by being the DRC Secretary for the past six years

Julie Smith, the DRC Treasurer for 2007, as she has been for the past six years.
Julie first came in contact with the DRC over ten years ago when her daughter began coxing for the DRC.
Julie in addition to being Treasurer is very active in the following areas of the DRC

Bette joined the DRC in 2001. Bette and husband Len Sommerville, are both recreational rowers. Bette's husband is also a safety/coach boat driver with the DRC.

Tom is the Strength and Condition Coach and advisor on Nutrition and conditioning in support of the DRC Coaches.
Tom is a former gymnastic coach at McMaster University in Hamilton. Tom is a part of the 2007 DRC Maintenance Team. Tom has been a stalwart volunteer for the DRC since 1998. In 1999 Tom coordinated the carpenters and framers who volunteered to build our current boathouse. Tom is a many talented individual, doing boat and shell house maintenance. Tom is a Freelance writer and writes a weekly column for The Scugog Standard "High Standard Performance" dealing with fitness, training and nutrition.

Alison is a full time student at O'Neill Collegiate in Oshawa. She has been rowing with the club for 3 years. Alison participated in a student exchange to Switzerland for a year during which time she was not able to volunteer with the club. She is currently a lifeguard and swimming instructor for the City of Oshawa.

Pat Doherty is a Level One Coach, working on his Level 2 certification. He will be assisting with the Varsity and Novice "Ridgeback" Crews of UOIT and the DRC High School Program. Pat is a senior manager with the Ontario Government, Ministry of Finance in Oshawa.
