The Durham Rowing Club is holding an open house and annual registration day on Saturday, April 26 from 10am to 2 pm at the boathouse.
All are welcome to join us to discuss our wide variety of adult, youth, and adaptive rowing programs. Coaches, staff, and club members will be on hand to answer any questions.
The club recently took possession of its new touring trailer. Funds for this trailer were provided by a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
The trailer was built to our specifications in Bowmanville by Wishing Well Fabricators. Constructed from non-rusting aluminum, it can carry four T-11 shells, all riggers and related equipment. The trailer can also accommodate cox-four racing shells due to its extended length giving the club increased flexibility in organizing boat transportation to various events and regattas.
The trailer weighs approximately 725 lbs and fully loaded weighs under 1500 lbs. As such she can be pulled by a smaller vehicle that required to pull our full size club trailer.
The trailer will allow members of the club to participate in organized rowing tours throughout the province. It will also allow us to create our own tours and take rowing wherever we want to go.
Ontario Trillium Foundation Good news. The club has been successful with its application for an Ontario Trillium Foundations Community Grant. A cheque for $73,400, representing the total amount of the grant, was received by the club on April 28, 2007.
The grant allows the club to make the following equipment purchases:
More information on these items will follow.

It has arrived! Our new Safety/Coach Boat. It is currently having its motor installed and hopefully will be in service mid September.
The arrival of this vessel increases our safety/rescue capability immensely The boat, still unnamed, will also be used in support of our Adaptive Program and will serve as the Escort Vessel for when we host tours in the spring and summer. Hopefully the Board of Directors can come up with a contest plan whereby the membership gets an opportunity to vote on a name for this craft. The contest over the winter, then next May we can have an official commissioning ceremony and give our safety/coach boat a name.
