Our lead instructors are Certified Rowing Instructors through Rowing Canada Aviron and the Coaching Association of Canada. All on-water training takes place in four and eight person rowing shells. Training sessions are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.30 to 8:30 p.m. Boats are launched from the Durham Rowing Club dock in front of the boathouse at 8 Old Rail Lane, Rotary Park, just north of the public boat launch in Port Perry.

The first session is scheduled to commence in the first week of May. Subsequent sessions will commence at the beginning of June, July and August. Other start times can be accommodated, space permitting. While no previous rowing experience is necessary, the following are the requirements to participate in the program:

  • Physically able to participate in a relatively strenuous activity.
  • A competent swimmer.
  • 16 years of age or older.
  • Observe the Safety and Standard Operating Procedures of the Durham Rowing Club.
