COVID-19 Update: May 15

Updated: May 29, 2020

Dear Members,

Today the Government of Ontario announced another positive step towards allowing rowers in Ontario to get on the water this summer. While Premier Ford did discuss boat clubs in his daily press conference this afternoon it will take time for more detailed information to be available and could take a few days to get the actual wording of the legislation and what that may means to the club. We are still awaiting more guidance from the Government, Rowing Canada, Row Ontario, the Township and Public Health on what may be permitted.

We are confident that Row Ontario and Rowing Canada will be working to provide clarity and recommendations. This information will be circulated throughout the member clubs as it becomes available.

Once we are given the green light to officially open the club to our members, there will be a lot of preparation and changes to guidelines that the DRC Board of Directors have been considering, as rowing at the club will be very different in these early stages that what we are used to. It will take somentime to implement these changes and guidelines before we can consider an official opening. The DRC Board is currently working on draft guidelines, protocol and procedures, and will modify as more information becomes available in the next days to weeks.

Please be patient, as all of us are ready to get back on the water. Our main concern is the Health and Safety of our Members and Volunteers, and we want to make sure that we are ready to operate with all the best practices put in place to provide a safe environment at the club.
