DRC Registration OPEN!

Dear DRC Members,

I am pleased to be able to give you the update you have been waiting for! Please read this whole letter before jumping onto the registration page.

We are officially opening registration as of Saturday, June 13, 2020. Please read this whole letter before jumping onto the registration page.

Registration will be open to only experienced single scullers during the initial phase of opening. We fully understand that this will be disappointing to our members who do not fall in this category, but appreciate your patience, and we have to keep the safety of our coaches, volunteers, employees and members paramount.

The DRC Board of Directors is defining experienced single scullers as the following, which is also outlined in the detailed COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

When the club first opens, only experienced single scullers will be allowed on the water. The club defines an experienced single sculler as:

o Having race experience in a single

o Having at least one season of training regularly in a single (3 or more times a week)

o Feels confident getting back in a capsized boat

To limit risk and contact between coaches and athletes, the board reserves the right to refuse a member to row based on experience.

If everything continues to go well, we will slowly open up registration to our less experienced scullers in the upcoming weeks. If you are identified in this group, you will be contacted directly to when you will able to start rowing.

If you have any specific questions regarding this, please contact Club President, Jenn Durward directly: jenniferdurward@gmail.com.

Registration process (Please visit www.durhamrowing.com):

1. We have moved away from Team Snap and all registration is completed on the RCA Website. Note: you CANNOT pay through RCA.

2. Please send online line payment via e-transfer to the Treasurer (Ian Morrison): durhamrctreasurer@gmail.com. If you have questions or concerns about this, please contact Ian directly at the email above.

3. Read the NEW COVID SOPs (link on the DRC Webpage), there are eight sections, these must be read and understood, as you will need to sign-off that you have read and understood them on your first day at the boathouse.

4. Once registration and payment is received:

a. If you are not a private boat owner: you will be contacted by the Head Coach, and be assigned specific days, times, equipment and coach. Please note that currently all non private boat owners will be rowing in the 5:15am time slot.

b. If you are a private boat owner, you will be sent a link to the online weekly sign-up sheet, where you will be able to sign-up for the available row times. More times will open once we complete our summer hiring process in the next few weeks, until then, row times will be dependent on availability of our volunteers.

I want to thank the Board of Directors for all the hard work, and I am looking forward to seeing everyone (eventually) on the water.

Regards,

Jenn Durward
