Durham Rowing Club: March 30

Updated: May 29, 2020

March 30, 2020

To Our Members and Volunteers:

Our thoughts go out to those affected by this global pandemic. Like many non-profit organizations, the Durham Rowing Club is feeling the impacts too and continue to operate to serve our membership but in a limited capacity. The situation that we are currently facing is uncertain and the well-being of our members, volunteers, and coaches is our top priority.

To support the strong recommendations and decisions made by Rowing Canada and RowOntario, the Durham Rowing Club board is working to put together a contingency plan, and adapting our operations and practices to keep everyone safe when we are finally allowed on the water.

2020 Season

Currently the 2020 Spring High School season is cancelled, along with the CSSRA Championships.

The summer rowing season has not yet been cancelled. The DRC continues to plan for the upcoming 2020 summer programming, staying positive in this uncertain time.

We have decided that we are not going to put the docks in until we are able to be on the water.

The boathouse will remain closed to all members. Members with single sculls in the boathouse, we are asking you to please refrain from rowing them until we can safely open the boathouse again to ALL members.

Registration

Registration was set to go live on April 1, 2020. In light of current events, we have decided to delay registration until we have a better idea of when (fingers crossed) we can get on the water. Please stay tuned to our website, Facebook and Instagram for important updates.

Communications and Member Experience

The Club will continue to post on our social media channels - Facebook and Instagram.

Rowing Canada and RowOntario our governing bodies, continue to provide frequent updates and is monitoring the COVID-19 situation on a weekly basis, and provide all member clubs with updates, recommendations and decisions. Information will be added to the Home pages of the websites for Rowing Canada, RowOntario and Durham Rowing Club.

We will continue to answer any questions and inquiries via email

Stay Positive!!!

The DRC Board continues to assess the latest information and the potential impacts on you the member, and on our small, non-profit rowing organization. Our goal is to maintain a high level of operational flexibility and fiscal responsibility, while still planning to deliver our fantastic rowing programming. We are doing everything within our power and resources to prepare for the many scenarios we may face as we move towards a return to the water.

On behalf of our dedicated volunteer Board, we wish you the best and we look forward to seeing you on the water!

Thank you,

Jennifer Durward
