Learn to Row Open Age

REGISTRATION open

See our COVID-19 page for updates

With current provincial health guidelines we will be utilizing smaller boats for Learn to Row which will allow much for more personalized one on one coaching along with faster learning and transition into our recreational program.  At the current time, only members of the SAME household will be able to row in doubles or larger boats.  However, we have upgraded our fleet with a new more stable single, along with other equipment to allow us to offer an amazing Learn to Row experience.

Learn to Row Sessions - Tuesday & Thursdays 6:30pm-8:30pm

#1: July 6th, 8th, 13th & 15th

#2: July 20th, 22nd, 27th & 29th

#3: August 3rd, 5th, 10th & 12th

#4: August 17th, 19th, 24th & 26th

Minimum of two (2) participants are required for the course to run.  Please contact the club at durhamrowingclub@gmail.com for further information on available spots and registration as equipment and spaces will be extremely limited during this stage of provincial re-opening.

Open to all age groups!

These courses are designed for participants with no previous experience in rowing, who wish to learn the fundamentals of rowing. Here you will learn the skills necessary to transition to our Recreational or Competitive programs.  This course is ideal for those who are interested in learning something new, meeting some great people, enjoying the water, have an eye on long-distance rowing in the form of marathons and tours or joining the competitive ranks to compete at traditional regattas.

A portion of your Learn-To-Row fee will be applied towards a seasonal recreational or competitive membership if you decide to continue with rowing for the remainder of the season.

ALL equipment, Instructors and Safety boats are included, all you need to bring is yourself dressed in comfortable clothing you would exercise in (although we suggest nothing too baggy as it could become caught on the equipment), a water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray, hat, sunglasses, socks and running shoes.

Rowing is a water sport and for the safety of our members and participants we closely monitor the weather for adverse conditions like Thunderstorms, high winds causing white cap wave conditions, and fog.  In the case of adverse weather conditions, we will cancel the session in advance as possible via email and provide opportunities to make up the missed sessions.
